Letter 97: It's time to talk about DeRobotics

It's a matter of when, not if, this sector blows up in the crypto space

I know it’s not the most fun time in the market right now. Prices are down and deflated. Attention is low. The world seems to be falling apart at its seams. However, the show must go on.

These are often the times when you can find some of the best opportunities. Be greedy when others are fearful, and all that. So I will continue to try and highlight sectors and projects that I think have potential, and will, hopefully, and eventually, outperform the market.

Today we’re looking at the Decentralized Robotics sector, and specifically six projects that I think are worth taking a deeper look at.

But first, why DeRobotics? This graphic summarizes it nicely:

If you’re bullish on AI, and bullish on Blockchains, you are probably bullish on Robotics too (or at least, you should be). The intersection of all three is a very exciting place, and one that I don’t think too many people are paying attention to.

The world is becoming more automated. Every industry is about to be disrupted. Purely intelligence based industries will be disrupted by pure AI, but anything that touches “the real world” — manufacturing, farming, mining, driving, cleaning, servicing… anything at all — will be disrupted by AI powered robots.

Of course, a lot of this value will naturally be captured by centralized entities (at least to begin with), but, as we are seeing with things like DeFi, there are always going to be benefits to decentralized models that give them the long term advantage.

If you want to read a lot more on this topic (which I strongly recommend), here are two excellent resources:

Okay now let’s look at some specific projects to keep an eye on, starting with a potential airdrop opportunity:

1. Konnex

Konnex recently raised $15m to fulfill their goal of building the GDP of autonomous systems.

Konnex creates a neutral market where robots agree on jobs, license proven AI intelligence on demand, and settle results in stablecoins.

  1. Robots negotiate tasks

  2. AI + robots execute jobs

  3. Verified work → stablecoin payouts

Seems like something worth keeping an eye on, and especially if you’re time-rich and capital-poor, a reasonable opportunity to rack up some points in the hopes for a nice airdrop. You really never know with projects like these if they’ll end up being fruitful or if they’ll be a waste of time, but if I had lots of time on my hands and was trying to get my start in crypto, these are the types of projects I would be all over.

Spray and pray and expand the surface area of your luck as much as possible in the hopes that eventually you hit a good one.
